Simon trained as a Physiotherapist at King’s College, London and graduated in 2001. He spent 5 years working for the NHS in Kent before returning to his native Lancashire at the beginning of 2006. Simon then worked increasingly in private healthcare, both in private practice and in hospitals working primarily with people suffering from orthopaedic and musculoskeletal problems before opening the clinic in 2011.
Simon has a keen interest in treating elite athletes and he has been fortunate enough to work at several major sporting events both at home and abroad. Simon worked as a physiotherapist at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and in Birmingham in 2022. He has worked in elite athletics and swimming as well as at the first European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2015 and at the Youth Winter Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2020.
In the clinic, Simon is one of the clinic directors. He also works full time as a physiotherapist and sees a varied caseload of people of all ages with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal problems as well as maintaining his interest in sports injuries.
Away from work, Simon is father to two very active young boys, is a keen cook and regular cyclist.
Lynley graduated with a BPhty(Bachelor of Physiotherapy) from the University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand) in 2001. After working in her native New Zealand, she moved to the UK in 2003. During her career, she has worked in a variety of settings, including public and private healthcare, as well as in research and teaching in the University sector. In 2007 Lynley gained full accreditation with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and now travels around the UK teaching Physiotherapists and Healthcare Professionals the APPI method of Pilates. Lynley is passionate about movement analysis and movement re-education. In her spare time, Lynley is a mother to two young boys and enjoys cycling and running.
Carol graduated from Bradford Hospital's School of Physiotherapy in 1990. She worked in various NHS hospitals in Liverpool before specialising in the musculoskeletal field when she moved to the University Hospital Aintree in 1992. Carol has worked alongside orthopaedic consultants in clinics as well as treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. These include back and neck pain, peripheral joint problems and sports injuries. Carol started work at Garstang Physiotherapy Clinic 2013. In her spare time, Carol has a busy family life caring for 4 children and enjoys swimming and aerobics.
Moya completed her 3-year Physiotherapy Degree in the University of Cumbria in 2019. She has also completed a Diploma in Health Sciences from the North West Regional College in Derry. Moya initially started work in a rotational post in the NHS working with patients both within the hospital setting and within the community. Moya then specialised in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with a special interest in sporting injuries, spinal rehabilitation, and Pilates. Moya is passionate about providing treatment techniques including, acupuncture, functional movement assessments, soft tissue mobilizations, individualized exercise prescription and patient education to help address muscular imbalance, and biomechanical issues.
Moya is currently undergoing training in becoming a fully accredited Pilates’s instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI).
In her spare time Moya enjoys running, swimming and fell walking in the lake district.
Hazel graduated with a MSc Pre-registration Physiotherapy degree from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2007. She completed her junior rotations at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust before specialising in the field of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2008. After the birth of her first child, she landed her dream job in 2013 specialising in antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy alongside providing treatment and rehabilitation for post op breast cancer patients. She continued to further her knowledge within Women’s Health Physiotherapy treating Uro-Gynaecology patients in the NHS from 2019 and from 2021 in the private sector.
In 2012 Hazel completed her Pilates mat instructor training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). Since then she has completed her mat work courses and continues to complete CPD courses through APPI.
Hazel is passionate about providing females with timely access to Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and in her spare time enjoys family days with her husband and three children and walking in the Lakes.
Allison qualified as a Sports Therapist (1987) at Worsley College Manchester, and after working in private practice for 6 years she pursued a career in vocational higher education, qualifying with BA in Professional Development at Dundee University (2003). She worked for the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland as a Senior Lecturer in Health and Social Care for nearly 10 years and completed an MSc in Complementary Medicine at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh.
In (2010) she graduated from the London School of Osteopathy with a BSc in Osteopathy and has worked as a registered Osteopath (GOsC) for 14 years and is an active member of the Institute of Osteopathy (IO)
Allison specialises in biomechanics and sports injuries and is completing an MSc in Sports Medicine and Biomechanics at Dundee University. She is passionate about injury rehabilitation and provides customised orthotics and braces. Allison’s work involves collaboration with Formthotics UK and ENOVIS (DJO). She enjoys an active lifestyle including hill walking in the Lake District and Scotland, skiing, cycling, nordic walking, swimming, golf and pilates.
Allison is a qualified instructor with the British Nordic Walking Association (BNWA) and a Level 3 Matwork Instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI).
After years of exploring careers in the service sector, security industry, and Lancashire Constabulary, Aaron found his purpose as a Physiotherapist in 2019, and graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2022.
Since graduation, he has been completing rotations in the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust and has found his passion in neurological and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, focusing on the benefits of strength and condition training and evidence-based practice.
Aaron has been a long time advocate of a balanced heathy lifestyle and has been a teacher at Lancaster Aikido Club for the last 9 years. He enjoys playing guitar, creative writing, and attending Aikido events across the world.
Marissa graduated from York St John University in 2021 with a BSc in Physiotherapy. After graduating Marissa started a rotational job at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, covering various departments such as musculoskeletal, intensive care and acute medicine. She then specialised in community care whilst working for the rapid response team. This involved treating patients at home to prevent hospital admissions.
Marissa has undertaken training in kinesiology taping and is training to become a fully accredited Pilates Instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI).
Marissa has developed an interest in treating sports related injuries. She is a keen runner and is passionate about spending time in the outdoors camping and swimming. After completing her first marathon last year, she is working towards her first ultra-marathon in the Tiree, Scotland.
Neil Williams trained at the College of Foot Health Practitioners and qualified in 2007 after which he established a very successful domiciliary (home visit) business in the Isle of Man. In 2009, Neil moved to Manchester to study Podiatry at the University of Salford, graduating in 2012. While there he gained great experience ranging from diabetic foot care, nail surgery and biomechanical analysis. Neil has also helped out at the Manchester City Football Club Academy, treating both players and staff. Since leaving university, Neil has trained as a Kinesio Tapist. Garstang Physiotherapy Clinic is delighted to host Neil's company, 360 Foot Care, which provides a full Podiatry service: www.360footcare.co.uk.
Jennifer Peasnell is a fully accredited matwork Pilates instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). Having seen the benefits of Pilates herself in her 30s - as she overcame chronic pain following a health issue and an accident - she is passionate about helping others in their journey to better health and movement so they can enjoy their lives to the full. As well as Pilates, she enjoys climbing and kayaking with friends and also works at Lancaster University Management School, supporting students to develop skills through live business projects.
Michelle Lingard is a fully accredited Matwork Pilates Instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institite (APPI).
Michelle’s background is in the veterinary profession and she still works part time as a vet locally. Her journey with Pilates began when supporting her young daughter during her recovery from serious illness. Witnessing the power of Pilates first hand to restore and develop muscle strength and balance, lead to a passionate belief that she wanted to learn more about this amazing technique and be able to share this with others. She loves working with, helping and educating her clients and then seeing them develop. The next step on her journey is to train as a Reformer Instructor through APPI.
Away from work, Michelle enjoys cold water swimming, fell walking and walking her Labradors and generally being outdoors wherever possible.
Caroline qualified as a physiotherapist in 2018 from the University of Central Lancashire. She worked for the NHS in a rotational role across a number of areas including Neuro, Rheumatology and Respiratory before specialising in the Community and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Caroline is currently undergoing training to become a fully accredited instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI).
In her spare time she enjoys Taekwondo, cycling and wild swimming.
Ann works part time at the clinic. Ann has a busy family life with two teenage boys. She enjoys running and generally keeping fit. Ann is also the founder member of ‘Team ShazzAnn’ who fundraise for local charities. Her next challenge will be the 2021 London Marathon!
Gail is one of the reception team at GPC. Previously Gail worked in the public sector (local authorities and civil service) as a programme and project manager. In her spare time Gail gardens, does yoga, tries to ride her bike and supports a number of voluntary organisations.
Eileen works in reception at the clinic and really enjoys her job meeting and chatting with patients.
In her spare time, Eileen likes to go walking with her dog, travelling and spending time in the Lake District.
